Aetna Opens Support Lines to the Public Following Sandy Hook School Shooting

In the wake of the horrific tragedy today at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Aetna (NYSE: AET) has opened its employee assistance program lines for any person in the tri-state area who may be having difficulty coping with this senseless act of violence.

Aetna Behavioral Health Employee Assistance Program professionals are available now, regardless of whether a person is an Aetna member. Counselors answering phones have experience helping people through traumatic events. Individuals are welcome to contact our counselors for help, support or referrals for further assistance.

The number to call is 1-888-AETNA-EAP (1-888-238-6232). The Aetna EAP line is available now and will stay open through January 14, 2013.

Individuals and families are encouraged to use the following materials:

• Helping children cope with school violence
• Recovering from trauma and loss
• Recognizing and coping with sadness after a loss
