Savvis, Inc., a major player in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, and Bharti airtel Limited, a premier global telecommunications company, has entered into a partnership to launch a major new strategic managed hosting and cloud computing initiative in India.

Access to Savvis' wide range of managed hosting and cloud services to enterprises operating in or expanding into India will be expanded by the agreement. Throughout India, Savvis will extend its infrastructure and service platforms in existing airtel data centers. It will also establish local operations teams to support both local and global clients.

In early 2011, Savvis expects to begin the rollout of its services through airtel's Bangalore data center. The company also expects future expansion into other airtel data centers located in New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai.

With its world-class services built on leading-edge technologies, Bharti airtel, India's leading integrated telecom company, has transformed the telecom sector.   

"India is a huge potential market that requires the scale and local reach that only airtel with Savvis' enterprise-grade cloud platform can deliver," said Jim Ousley, chairman and CEO of Savvis, in a press release. "Our global clients have been asking us for capabilities in India, and partnering with airtel enables us to provide the quality facilities and support both our clients and theirs require. This collaboration not only enables us to leverage airtel's existing infrastructure and client reach, but also its reputation as one of the best known and admired brands in India."

airtel will also resell Savvis managed hosting and cloud services to India-based clients.
