Building the Network from the Ground Up: Integrated Telemanagement Services

By Erin Harrison, Executive Editor, Strategic Initiatives

In a recent video interview in San Jose, TMC (News - Alert) CEO Rich Tehrani spoke with Rick Minyard, executive vice president of telecommunications reseller Integrated Telemanagement Services. The company primarily focuses on providing broadband and Internet connectivity.

“We build the the network from the ground up. Of course, voice over IP, SIP trunks and hosted PBX (News - Alert) has become our signature voice product these days because that’s where the industry’s going,” explained Minyard. “We’re a telemanagement company. We take voice and data and package it together and provide solutions to our business clientele.”

The reseller offers a range of products and services from the basic dial tone to complex technologically advanced telecommunications solutions and everything in-between.

“Our footprint is wherever our carriers are. We’re not limited by any geography,” Minyard said of the Southern California-based company, which sells strictly through channels.

One of the biggest changes in the telecommunications industry, Minyard noted, is the fact that voice and data are no longer separate entities.

“It used to be that the data side and the voice side are separate things. They are not any longer,” he said. “Data has won out. We are a data provider first. We also provide LAN support, not only connectivity, but router, switch and cloud-based services. But it all starts with the network. It all starts now with your connectivity. The network is king.”

Voice over IP has significantly influenced all aspects of the network, he pointed out.

“Voice over IP, six, seven years ago, people couldn’t spell it. Now it’s where we start. It’s where everything starts, with a new deployment or a rollout for a client,” said Minyard. “We start there and if it works for them, if it makes sense for them, which it almost always does, that’s where we go.”

Service is what differentiates Integrated Telemanagement Services from the competition, Minyard said.

“We’re dealing in an industry in what we deal with is a commodity and we recognize that. All we can do is provide superior service and that’s what we do. We’re not always going to be the cheapest. We work on a margin. We engage in aggressive wholesale arrangements with our carriers. We mark our services up accordingly and then provide superior service for the client,” he explained. “We’ll handle every aspect of their network, every aspect of their connectivity and provide good service from the beginning.”

The emergency of cloud-based services has impacted the company’s services, which is offering new products driven by the progress of technology.

“As technology directs us, we go that direction,” Minyard said, as the company plans to expand its hosted Voice over IP, PBX platform, cloud backup/storage and wireless and cellular services.

Because the company is small and regionally based, Integrated Telemanagement Services has the ability to pick and choose its partners.

“We can grow at our own pace. We’re very careful that way. We don’t like to leap in before we know who we’re dealing with,” Minyard added.
