Providea Conferencing Achieves Cisco TelePresence ATP Status

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Providea Conferencing, LLC, which offers a full suite of Telepresence and high-definition video conferencing solutions, along with comprehensive system and network design consultation, has been recognized as Cisco TelePresence Authorized Technology Provider and an advanced unified communications specialized partner in the U.S.

Officials with Providea Conferencing said that these designations recognize the company as having fulfilled the training requirements and program prerequisites to sell, deploy and support Cisco TelePresence and Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert) solutions, nationwide.

Cisco TelePresence Meeting solution is a revolutionary new category of products that create live, "face-to-face" meeting experiences over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. It combines the reach, intelligence and reliability of the network with the simplicity of a telephone interface to deliver an entirely new way for people to meet and collaborate. Cisco TelePresence Meeting is the first application of Cisco TelePresence technology.

The Cisco Authorized Technology Provider (ATP (News - Alert)) Program is part of Cisco's go-to-market strategy for emerging technologies.  The program helps Cisco to define the knowledge, skills and services that channel partners need to successfully sell, deploy and support an emerging technology.

Thanks to being Cisco (News - Alert) TelePresence ATP partner, Providea Conferencing can now gain access and order directly for its customers the Cisco restricted products in the ATP programs.

"Cisco TelePresence changes the entire realm of communications and collaboration," said Richard McLeod, senior director of collaboration for worldwide channels at Cisco, in a statement.

"As a Cisco TelePresence ATP partner, Providea Conferencing has made an investment in the sales, technical, and lifecycle services capabilities that our customers need to help customers successfully deploy complete solutions," said Mclead.

"With the attainment of Cisco's ATP and Advanced Unified Communications Specialization designations, and our successful partnership over the past eight years with TANDBERG, we are extremely well positioned to continue our leadership in the visual communications, multimedia and the Managed and Professional Services industry,” said Todd Luttinger, president and CEO of Providea Conferencing.

Luttinger said that this is simply one strategic step with several others to follow as the company continues to develop, drive and deliver services and solutions that the clients have come to expect and depend upon from Providea Conferencing.

Back in November, Providea Conferencing announced that it enhanced the Universal Connectivity Service on their B2B exchange with the addition of TIP (Telepresence Interoperability Protocol) to all of the Cisco TelePresence chassis-based MSE 8710 platforms in Providea's co-location facilities.

Through TIP, B2B telepresence users are no longer on a "private island" restricted by proprietary systems that do not communicate with each other. Providea's implementation of TIP allows Cisco TelePresence systems to communicate with any other standards-compliant systems regardless of whether it is a Polycom (News - Alert) or LifeSize endpoint.
