The virtual environment is growing rapidly as more companies migrate to the cloud and IT managers are demanding extensive monitoring and auditing capabilities to better manage and secure their converged data center—regardless of the computing platform. At times, the management capabilities provided by their hypervisor vendor are inadequate and newer measures are needed to keep the virtual world in check.
Net Optics Inc.,'s new hypervisor—the Phantom Virtual Tap—is the first solution to address both physical and virtual tools, enabling total visibility of inter-VM traffic for unrivaled security, compliance and manageability.
It is a part of the company's suite of monitoring access and management solutions and seamlessly integrates with Net Optics (News - Alert) Director switches, but can be deployed in the stand-alone mode if required. Real-time visibility that till now had eluded them has now become a reality.
This highly scalable solution helps enterprises overcome the challenges of virtual network security, compliance and performance in a flexible and cost-effective manner. Inter- Vm traffic between the virtual servers and the physical stacks are entirely visible and IT managers are in a position to monitor, analyze and report on that traffic. This is especially useful in highly regulated industries such as finance and manufacturing.
In a press release, Bob Shaw, president and CEO, Net Optics, said that in the absence of network monitoring solutions, enterprises were unable to monitor physical and virtual deployments but the Phantom Virtual Tap, had for the first time provided IT managers with a holistic view of traffic that hitherto had been invisible. This not only helped them to derive full investment value from the implementation of physical tools but also enabled them to meet security and compliance requirements.
The company will debut the Phantom Virtual Tap and other products in Net Optics’ expanding portfolio of access and monitoring solutions at the RSA (News - Alert) conference booth no.2245 in San Francisco, Feb. 14-17, 2010. It is licensed per ESX/ESXi server, and pricing starts at $2,500.
Net Optics’ advanced solutions are currently deployed in more than 7,000 enterprises and government organizations worldwide, helping to improve network efficiency, monitor all aspects of digital traffic.
