This week, Vu TelePresence filled news headlines with announcements.
First, the Pittsburgh-based company announced its customer base reached 4 percent in the U.S. telepresence market.
This impressive achievement, company officials say, can be attributed to HD quality and low bandwidth requirements, as well as the affordability and ease-of-use their solution offers.
The company also made headlines this week with the announcements that its latest telepresence technology will be on display at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.Virtual golf instructions will be given by instructor Mike Adams and will offer individuals as chance to demonstrate their short game swing and receive on the spot feedback as well as tips.
In addition, Vu’s tents on the green will feature live golf tutorials through Vu’s video conferencing system.
Also related to telepresence is virtual reality. According to an article by TMCnet’s Beecher Tuttle, the technology is gaining a lot of traction in the business world thanks to mobile applications.
Citing a Mashable article written by Sam Travis Ewen, CEO of non-traditional marketing agency Interference and co-founder of immersive technology company Supertou.ch, Tuttle’s article notes that, “augmented reality, projection mapping and Kinect hacking may be the three hottest fields in the virtual reality space moving forward, and could be big money makers for those on the front lines.” READ MORE HERE.
In other telepresence related news this week, StarLeaf launched a new voice and video communications solution for desktops and meeting rooms.
This new offering according to company officials is the first purpose engineered platform for call control and management with a common dial plan.
Finally, “NetScout (News - Alert) Simplifies Network and Performance Management for Cloud Services, Unified Communications and Telepresence,” an article by TMC’s Mae Kowalke details a recent video interview with Steven Shalita (News - Alert), vice president of Marketing at NetScout, during Interop 2011.
