To increase the benefits of voice communication, Plantronics (News - Alert) has introduced new unified communications software, Spokes software, for IBM (News - Alert) Sametime. The company also announced that Epilio is utilizing the new Spokes software to improve employee communications globally and to lower call costs.
According to Plantronics officials, the Spokes software supports the most recent version of IBM Sametime and many of Plantronics' most popular products, including theVoyager PRO UC and Savi series.
The Spoke software is designed to offer freedom and mobility to people to increase focus and productivity while on calls. In addition, the Spokes software for IBM Sametime helps people to adjust the call volume, mute or answer a call with a Plantronics wireless headset.
“We have deployed Plantronics Spokes software for IBM Sametime in the US and the UK," said Carl Tyler, director of Epilio Inc.
Tyler said that their employees chose a Voyager PRO UC or a Savi DECT (News - Alert) headset from Plantronics and now they use their headsets to communicate with colleagues and customers clearly and confidently, effectively reducing telephone call costs and alleviating the need for international dialing to fellow employees.
All these effective features have qualified Plantronics Spokes software for IBM Sametime for 2012 IBM Collaboration Awards for Enhancing Business Value through Sametime Solutions category.
"Plantronics supports the vision of a truly social business environment," said Joe Burton, senior vice president and CTO, Plantronics.
Burton said that their call control software enables users across the globe to benefit from the improved collaboration and cost savings that comes along with being able to quickly call or conference in colleagues, clients and business partners without being chained to their desks.
Plantronics has pioneered new trends in audio technology for 50 years, creating innovative products that allow people to simply communicate, according to company officials.
