Cisco WebEx Meeting Center Will Get Single Sign-On and Automated User Account Management From Ping Identity

Recently, Ping Identity announced the broad-spectrum availability of its PingFederate SaaS (News - Alert) Connector for Cisco WebEx. The WebEx SaaS Connector is the fourth in a series of SaaS Connectors. It can be operated with PingFederate to offer rapid connection and provisioning capabilities for WebEx Meeting Center.


In a release, Patrick Harding who is the chief technology officer of Ping Identity said that “More than 7 million people use Cisco (News - Alert) WebEx services each month to communicate and collaborate online. This translates to millions of end user passwords and accounts that must be managed, exposing IT and business departments to unnecessary risk and cost. Ping solves this with Single Sign-On (SSO) access and automated account provisioning capabilities that integrate easily into any environment.”

By automatically creating user accounts from the corporate directory, the WebEx SaaS Connector works with PingFederate to accelerate the user installation process for WebEx Meeting Center. Then, the users are able to sign in immediately at their primary network access point. They can then effortlessly access WebEx and other Cloud applications without the need of any supplementary passwords. Once the users leave the company, the access to WebEx Meeting Center is automatically disabled, because the PingFederate automatically coordinates corporate directory changes within the WebEx Directory.

With the installation of this new product, a Quick Connection template in PingFederate’s administrative console conceals the complexity of generating an SAML connection to WebEx Meeting Center. This is done by pre-populating WebEx-required attributes from static configuration data and metadata.

Over 35,000 organizations across the world rely on Cisco WebEx Meeting Center. It helps them to share ideas with anyone, regardless of the location. With the help of Meeting Center, the users can share documents, presentations and applications; meet from PC, Mac or smartphone; make use of incorporated voice conferencing; record meetings; and share streaming video from a maximum of six webcams.
