Vidyo Achieves Federal Government JITC Certification for Its Groundbreaking Video Conferencing Platform
HACKENSACK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
Vidyo,
Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today
announced that products
from its Vidyo (News - Alert)™ Conferencing suite have met the DoD Joint
Interoperability Test Command's (JITC) requirements, including related
Defense Switch Network (DSN) and IPV6 interoperability requirements, to
now appear on the DoD Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC
APL). Vidyo is the first software-based, telepresence-quality (720p30)
desktop video conferencing solution to be JITC certified.
As an approved provider of products to the Department of Defense, Vidyo
offers government customers a highly differentiated, superb-quality
video conferencing solution based on an entirely unique communication
and collaboration platform. This software-based, extremely flexible and
easily customizable solution is designed around the company's patented VidyoRouter™
architecture. Using Adaptive
Video Layering™ and the H.264 SVC video compression standard to
dynamically optimize the video for each endpoint, the VidyoRouter is the
first video multipoint solution to deliver rate matching and continuous
presence capabilities without requiring expensive conference bridges.
Vidyo's groundbreaking technology delivers high quality conferencing in
many form factors giving customers the choice of how to use the
technology. Since Vidyo utilizes no-QoS enhanced networks, access to
telepresence-quality conferences is possible to anyone with terrestrial,
wireless, broadband, or Satcom network connectivity. Vidyo acknowledges
the current investments of traditional VTC and Telepresence (News - Alert) systems, and
invested heavily to ensure compatibility with H.323/SIP based end points
and infrastructure.
"Vidyo's award-winning solution is perfectly suited to the needs of
government customers, with special consideration for agencies that
require high information assurance and interoperability, but need to be
budget-conscious at the same time," said Ofer Shapiro (News - Alert), Vidyo's
co-founder and CEO. "Vidyo's products are currently used by the Federal
government, and this JITC Certification enables us to further extend our
reach to other departments and agencies looking to expand their
collaboration beyond the conference room to the desktop, mobile, and
tactical. Vidyo provides a higher level of quality on everyday devices
with massive scalability at a fraction of the cost of competitive
solutions."
Joel Brunson, President, Blackbox, Video Division said, "Vidyo has a
very unique, high-quality solution that allows Federal agencies to
provide high definition video conferencing to the desktop and mobile
worker at unprecedented scale, interoperability with existing
investments, all at a very attractive price. Achieving JITC
certification, and everything that comes with it, should bolster Vidyo's
efforts in penetrating the Federal video space, allowing them to take
market share from incumbent providers."
Vidyo will be demonstrating several of its JITC-certified products this
week at the AFCEA Technology Showcase (part of the DISA Mission Partner
Conference), May 7-10, 2012 at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida.
The Vidyo Difference
The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based,
highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise
and vertical market video conferencing needs. Vidyo's Adaptive Video
Layering eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency,
low latency rate matching thus enabling natural, affordable,
high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE (News - Alert) and 4G networks. The
platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware
innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to
partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP
videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since
2005.
