Fidelus On Board with 'Jabber for Everyone' Unified Communications Software

By Jacqueline Lee, Contributing Writer

Unified Communications (News - Alert) software provider Fidelus Technologies has announced it plans to participate in Cisco’s (News - Alert) “Jabber for Everyone” program which will make presence and instant messaging available with Cisco Jabber clients and Cisco Unified Communications Manager customers. In addition, the programs will be delivered at no extra cost.

“For partners, this helps simplify and accelerate the deployment of presence, IM and mobile collaboration as part of a holistic, best-in-class, collaboration solution,” Barry O’Sullivan, senior vice president of Cisco’s Voice Technology Group, wrote in a blog post about the program. “We feel presence and IM are the starting points of collaboration, not the final destination.”

“Jabber for Everyone” gives clients a simple and cost-effective way to deploy IM and presence across a multitude of operating systems and devices including Windows, Mac, Cisco Cius, iPhone and BlackBerry (News - Alert). Company officials note an Android-compatible edition will be released later this year.

Jabber also gives customers a way to deploy a UC client that is BYOD ready. The client is not only being given to customers with an IP phone; it’s also being given to every employee in an organization.

“Once licensed for additional workloads,” O’Sullivan pointed out, “customers can use Jabber to move beyond IM to more advanced collaboration capabilities that can transform their business – such as enabling employees to easily engage in a TelePresence meeting from their mobile devices.”

Fidelus Technologies is a Gold, Managed Services Master and Master Unified Communications partner for Cisco Systems (News - Alert) and has both deployed and supported approximately 70,000 endpoints throughout the market. The company’s latest software release, the Fidelus Console Operator 2.0, provides companies with a cost-effective way to replace Cisco’s Attendant Console, which is no longer supported by Cisco.

In addition to one-on-one and group chat as well as IM capabilities, Jabber will provide customers with client chat history, server IM logging and file transfer. Employees using the program can join or initiate Cisco WebEx meetings for both Windows and Mac.

In addition to licenses for Jabber IM client applications, Fidelus will make licenses for on-premises Cisco Unified Presence deployments available to Cisco UC Manager customers for no additional license charge. The program will work throughout the enterprise regardless of whether or not employees are using Cisco UC Manager for call control.
