TMCnet Unified Communications Software Week in Review

Welcome to the latest edition of TMCnet’s Unified Communications Software Week in Review – where you’ll find a brief rundown of all the top stories related to UC this past week.
This week, Comcast announced it made the top of the list for hosted VoIP, UC service providers in the latest study from Infonetics.
The company finished 2011 ranking as the highest-rated hosted VoIP and unified communication (UC) service provider in North America – a primary result of its recent acquisition of New Global Telecom.
Cisco made news in the UC space this week with its release of the Cisco Unified Messaging Gateway (News
- Alert). The new offering is an advanced gateway that eases “the combination and management of disparate voicemail systems.”
Also this week, Avistar (News
- Alert) Communications showcased its C3 Conference Solution at Citrix Synergy (News - Alert) event.
The offering makes it possible for Microsoft Lync users to have continuous presence multiparty videoconferencing, interoperability and virtualization features.
Also, the UC solution is a complete software design and allows clients and partners, such as Citrix XenServer, improve their UC features within a virtualized server environment.
Finally, Nimbuzz (News - Alert) announced this week it opened its Chat Buddy API program to developers.
With the program developers and businesses will have access to the services' over 90 million users and can build “chat buddies” to handle tasks such as sports, movie tickets, horoscopes and classified ads.
