IPedge, an IP business telephone from Toshiba (News - Alert), now features Toshiba’s Meeting application, as well as an enhanced Call Manager UC application and an improved Enterprise Manager system administration application.
IPedge was honored with an Internet Telephony (News - Alert) 2011 Product of the Year Award last year.
“Now with built-in audio/video conferencing and Web collaboration plus survivability of the UC application, IPedge gives SMBs and multi-site companies more ways to communicate efficiently, cost effectively and reliably,” said Brian Metherell (News - Alert), vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division. “Even small offices now have the benefit of the built-in Meeting application on Toshiba's IPedge EP.”
Toshiba’s Meeting application enables both scheduled and unscheduled Web-based Meet Me conferences. With Meeting, participants in a conference simply connect using the webcam on their computer.
Within the Meet Me conference, users can enable desktop sharing and Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook Calendar integration. The system has eight to 24 configurable ports, audio recording capability and multiple conference view features.
Another upgrade to IPedge is Toshiba’s introduction of survivability to Call Manager and to Enterprise Manager. Both of these applications will automatically switch to a secondary server if the primary server experiences downtime. When the primary server is re-enabled, both applications will be automatically reconnected.
Survivability is also ensured by IPedge’s Linux server, offering better continuity and a higher level of security.
With IPedge, users see multiple UC applications on one Linux server, including call processing, voicemail, unified messaging and native SIP lines and SIP trunk support. Add-on applications, like uMobility Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) and Contact Center solutions, are available with additional servers.
Toshiba also won a 2012 CRM Excellence Award by TMC’s Customer Interaction Solutions magazine for its Call Manager application.
IPedge systems are available for both enterprises and SMBs.
