Socialtext recently announced that its Software-as-a-Service platform has been deployed at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Socialtext is a secure enterprise social software provider and will now provide over 8,000 HUD employees with a protected arena for internal social collaboration and communication, thereby giving employees a social layer that has broken and will continue to pave the way for knowledge silos throughout the entire agency.

Socialtext not only allows for more productive teams to be created, but also makes the collaboration process streamlined, allowing HUD to make the most of its resources."

One of the major findings highlighted in Gartner's (News - Alert) October 2011 'How to Optimize Government Costs in the New Normal: Nine Opportunities for Federal IT' states, "Although collaboration and self-service are just getting started in government, they offer perhaps the biggest opportunities for government productivity improvement in the long term." This report was authored by research VP Rishi Sood.

Socialtext developed "HUDConnect" which is now acts as the agency's secure, social intranet that has successfully managed to create a strong connection and collaboration between HUD employees and their nationwide field offices. The deployment of HUDConnect has produced a more satisfied work environment amongst HUD employees by providing them with a more advanced streamlined communication flow.
