West IP Communications (News - Alert), a subsidiary of West Corporation and provider of cloud-based communication applications and services, recently introduced the MediaCloud architecture for large-scale enterprise deployments of Microsoft Lync Unified Communications (News - Alert) technologies.
Microsoft Lync is an enterprise-ready unified communications platform. With the help of a consistent, familiar interface, it helps users track their contacts’ availability, send an IM, start or join an audio, video or Web conference, or make a phone call.
Lync is built to fully integrate with Microsoft (News
- Alert) Office.
The MediaCloud architecture provides a hybrid unified communications environment, facilitating important Lync infrastructure and applications to be on-premises within corporate IT management and the voice, networking and transport services to be hosted in West’s global data centers.
Apart from improving security without additional investment in equipment, this approach reportedly enhances network performance, decreases the IT administrative problems and offers IT with complete visibility of cloud applications and services.
“As a technology leader, West is driving global unified communications innovation in unique ways,” said Robert Wise, executive vice president of West IP Communications. “MediaCloud fundamentally changes the way businesses operate, giving them the benefits of IP-based cloud communications with the transparency of on-premises deployments. The complexity of Lync in a distributed environment forces many organizations to prolong or delay full-scale rollouts because they lack the necessary IT resources.”
Recently, TMC’s (News - Alert) Jacqueline Lee reported that the company jumped to the second spot of top VoIP services, according to the Infonetics (News - Alert) 2012 North American Business VoIP Leadership Scorecard. The IP Communications segment of West Communications provides services that help companies change to a cloud-based delivery model for its voice, network and collaboration services.
By designing, configuring, managing and supporting next-generation UC applications and services, West IP also helps contact centers make the switch to the cloud.
