Provisioning can be a time-consuming, monotonous process.

With the forthcoming release of Provisioning Manager Express, unified communications (UC) and collaboration solutions provider Fidelus hopes to make provisioning of the Cisco (News - Alert) Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) a lot easier.

Provisioning Manager Express simplifies the task of adding user configurations by rolling it into a simple web interface, Fidelus explained. Using the application, IT administrators can quickly provision new users into the system and check for errors without having to manually verify each user during setup.

The new Provisioning Manager Express lets administrators add line, device profile, phone, user, and voice mail profiles, according to the company. Admins can associate line or users with phone or device profiles and add speed dials, too.

The provisioning manager lets admins also set common device settings such as device pools, phone button templates, soft key templates, common phone profiles, calling search space, and other settings.

Multiple CUCM clusters can be managed with the provisioning manager, and it is possible to set separate roles for admins who create and edit templates and users.

The application includes an audit trail and LDAP integration. The web interface is compatible with Firefox 3.5 and higher, as well as Chrome and both Internet Explorer versions 8 and 9.

It works with CUCM 7.1 and above, as well as any version of CUCM 8.

CUCM is a unified communications call control platform that can extend video capabilities through a unified communications infrastructure, simplify voice systems by dramatically simplifying provisioning and maintenance, and build productivity with comprehensive unified communications, Cisco noted.

Provisioning Manager Express is currently in beta testing with several existing Fedelus clients. A general release should be completed by the third quarter of 2012.When the application is released, prospective users can sign up for a free 30-day trial.
