Unified Communications Software Week in Review

Welcome to the latest edition of TMCnet’s Unified Communications Software Week in Review – where you’ll find a brief rundown of all the top stories related to UC from the past week.


This week, Hula Networks announced it completed implementation of a UC system for a Bay Area credit card services firm.

The new system was put in place to tackle issues faced by the company’s high growth rate. An upgraded communications system with UC features helped to ensure remote offices that housed additional agents has access to the communications that agents located at the company headquarters had.

ShoreTel made headlines this week with the expansion of its open standards updates for a number of UC offerings. According to company officials this will help to provide a richer unified collaboration experience.

TMCnet’s Stefanie Mosca sat down for an exclusive interview with CMO Kevin Gavin (News - Alert) this week in San Jose, Calif. to discuss the new software update and what it means for the industry as a whole. Read here.

BroadSoft (News - Alert) also announced this week Office Launch – an iPad app to help their service provider customers more easily configure hosted UC services.

Available free of charge in the iTunes apps store, the new app includes information for configuring auto attendant phone trees, phone desk and hunting and service stations as well as info. On designating call routing to an employees preferred device.

A new report on unified communications and collaboration this week highlights the broad spectrum of UCC. Blair Pleasant (News - Alert) of COMMfusion and UCStrategies noted the importance of this report as more and more mobile workers are collaborating today and the use of social and video continues to rise.

UC software provider Fidelus Technologies was highlighted this week for the successful merge of their voice and video dial plans, making it easier for parties to collaborate over video instead of just over voice. Also the company’s Provisioning Manager Express makes UC setup a breeze. Find out how HERE.
