Avaya IP Office 8.1 Released in Asia Pacific

By Robbie Pleasant, TMCnet Contributor

Avaya (News - Alert) continues to roll out new and improved solutions, as the latest version of Avaya IP Office has been released across the Asia Pacific region. IP Office 8.1 is a unified communications solution designed for small and mid-sized enterprises, capable of serving anywhere from five to 1,000 users.

Included in the Avaya IP Office 8.1 solution is the Avaya Flare Communicator, a mobility app for iPad tablets or Windows laptops, as well as capabilities for mobility, management, and security. There are also custom-built services, made to help BYOD and mobile users. Furthermore, IP Office 8.1 can automate network setup when paired with Avaya’s ERS 3500 switches, as well as interoperability between Radvision (News - Alert) SCOPIA endpoints and IP Office is expected soon.

New centralized management and licensing capabilities are also available in this offering with a simple administrative control to manage several sites individually or as one from a single location. The enhanced security options provide added protection against toll fraud, DOS attacks, and other such threats, thanks to a new version of Avaya Session Border Controller, defending against all sorts of known attacks.

"With the bar raised on all aspects of business mobility, security and management, Avaya is bringing its innovation to the forefront of the SME space – and extending it further into the mid-market,” says Mark Monday, VP of Collaboration Platforms at Avaya, in a statement. “Avaya IP Office 8.1 introduces new capabilities that help our customers and partners succeed in a shifting collaboration landscape, while ensuring they have the capacity to meet expanding communications needs."

Avaya certainly doesn’t do things in half-measures. It seems that everything has been looked at and improved for IP Office 8.1, and its availability isn’t being held back either. Extending into the Asia Pacific markets should prove beneficial, and with the amount of users it can support, it will likely be in high demand.
