Securus Technologies is allowing people to schedule and participate in visitation sessions with an inmate-from any PC connected to the internet.
To this end, the company has launched a new service called Securus Video Visitation for correctional facilities.
Securus Securus Technologies is one of the largest providers of detainee communications and information management solutions.
"We’re excited to deliver Securus Video Visitation to the market alongside Secure Call Platform (SCP), supported by the industry's best customer service organization," said Russell Roberts, vice president of Marketing and Strategy for Securus.
The new service from the provider of inmate communication services and investigative technologies marks an industry transition from traditional, in-person visits to more convenient and secure remote video visits.
Securus Video Visitation allows the public to schedule and participate in video visitation comfortably from their homes or offices.
"The cost of parking, which can be upwards of $15 per day, in addition to increased gas prices and unpaid time off work can cause unnecessary financial challenges for those currently participating in traditional in-person visitation today," said Matthew Smith, Manager of Product Management for Securus.
These issues can be solved by the newly released service that delivers several benefits such as increased visitations, more convenience and less cost.
Securus has to its credit 92 patents and invests more than $20 million into its calling platform. It also operates a large in-sourced call center in the industry and provides customer service for friends and family members who receive calls from inmates in Securus-served facilities.
The company was in the news last month when it surpassed more than 100 installations of Automated Information Services in its partnership with Telerus.
