The Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA Atlantic champions, have announced that it has transitioned its back-office unified communications (UC) solution from a legacy Avaya (News

Thanks to an expanding fan base, Celtics management has expanded their office space and personnel. The team’s VP of technology, Jay Wessel, also took on additional responsibilities that made managing an outdated legacy phone system impossible.
According to Wessel, implementation speed was crucial to the franchise as they opened their season.
“We got a huge rush of calls when our tickets went on sale. We got four times the volume and handled the calls without any problems. That’s how a phone system should be,” stated Wessel. “The phone system should be transparent to our customers calling in and just do its job.
“With ShoreTel we got all the added features without having to buy additional hardware, software or adding to extra administrative overhead. We got everything we needed in an easy-to-use package.”
The Celtics partnered with ShoreTel (News

“As we’re Celtic’s fans through and through, Harbor Networks is thrilled to work with the team to install a ShoreTel system,” said Greg Bertschmann, president of Harbor Networks. “Our company has always been committed to providing reliable leading edge solutions and we’re sure that the brilliantly simple ShoreTel solution is the perfect fit for the Boston Celtics organization.”
The ShoreTel system offers a premise-based IP phone system featuring integrated UC, hosted VoIP and contact center capabilities. Another feature, Conference Bridge, allows end users to schedule conferences without the aid of an outside service.
