ShoreTel’s (News - Alert) family of cloud-based solutions has a new name: ShoreTel Sky. Given the heights to which ShoreTel aims to ascend, this is a pretty fitting name – only this time, the clouds aren’t in the sky; the sky is in the cloud.

Ever since it acquired M5 Networks (News - Alert), ShoreTel’s cloud offerings, as well as its on-premises ones, have offered flexible unified communications solutions to businesses of all sizes.

ShoreTel has done remarkably well to keep up with an ever-changing market, continuing to increase its market share and revenue, and it intends to keep going that way.

ShoreTel’s architecture allows applications to be accessed from the cloud or on-premises solutions. The first of its products to be made accessible in such a way was ShoreTel Mobility, a previously in-house solution that can now be accessed from ShoreTel Sky as well.

As the cloud continues to grow in the VoIP market, ShoreTel will continue to expand its ShoreTel Sky infrastructure and operations, keeping up with and ahead of the market’s demands.

After ShoreTel’s cloud division saw a bookings increase of over 40 percent from the previous year, it’s clear that the need for cloud-based solutions will continue to grow.

With ShoreTel Sky firmly established as a strong provider of cloud solutions, there’s no doubt that it will be a major player in the cloud.
