In order to secure wired and wireless network infrastructure for its Security Solutions business, Siemens (News
- Alert) Industry, Inc., has selected Enterasys Networks.
To simplify the integration of physical security devices on the IP network with strong support of open standards, Enterasys (News - Alert) is committed to working closely with Siemens' other major suppliers as a part of this agreement. According to the company, the move to add Enterasys to Siemens' portfolio of security solutions demonstrates the growing need for intelligent, enterprise-class secure switching/routing infrastructure. This also supports the growing demands of IP video surveillance, access control systems and other unified messaging solutions the company stated in a press release.

According to the company, the security and reliability of the IP network is one of the most common challenges of today's surveillance and video storage environments. Enterasys, as a Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) company, continues to expand its relationships within the Siemens family of companies with this agreement.
Recently, the company announced the introduction of the Enterasys S-Series S6, a new addition to its family of premium modular switches. According to company sources the Enterasys S6 can be used in virtualized data center environments as it can integrate seamlessly into cold aisle/hot aisle data center cooling architectures. The S6 can serve enterprise IT requirements concerning mobility of the workforce besides serving the purposes of “Consumerization of IT” and virtual desktops.
