Interop (News - Alert) Technologies, a company specializing in wireless solutions for messaging revealed its association with two US wireless operators, Inland Cellular and Thumb Cellular to deploy its hosted Commercial Mobile Service Provider (CMSP) Gateway (News - Alert).

Inland Cellular serves Eastern Washington and North Central Idaho, and Thumb Cellular operates in the Eastern region of Michigan. These operators are said to have chosen Interop Techologies’ Gateway to comply with the government’s new Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) initiative for delivery of public safety alerts to customers.

“The Interop hosted solution enables these operators to comply with CMAS without the investment and staff resources required by alternative solutions,” Fred Farrell, vice president of North American Sales, Interop Technologies said in a press release.

“We are very pleased to assist Inland and Thumb as they support subscriber safety in their service areas," Farrell added.

A company statement also revealed that the regional operators will deploy the solution upon completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) testing as required by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)).

Interop’s hosted CMAS solution enables the operators to transmit government-issued public safety and weather alert messages to their subscribers enabling them to avoid the expense and complexity of an on-network system.

Interop’s hosted CMSP Gateway is believed to now help the operators ensure their subscribers have the protection and security of receiving CMAS notifications issued by public safety and governmental agencies. Presidential, Imminent Threat, and AMBER alerts will be delivered over the operators’ cellular broadcast network directly to subscribers with CMAS-compatible handsets, helping to increase response time and save lives and property when emergencies occur.

Reports also indicate that nearly all wireless network operators are expected to comply with the voluntary CMAS program.

In related news, Interop Technologies announced that its Messaging Personalization and Control (MPAC) technology is currently been deployed by four US regional wireless operators which includes; Bluegrass Cellular (News - Alert), Inland Cellular, Nex-Tech Wireless, and Thumb Cellular.
