So You Want To Be a SoTel Unified Messaging Agent?

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

You can become a complete unified messaging provider, SoTel officials say, by offering both IP-PBX (News - Alert) hardware and software and VoIP Services. Why would you want to do this? By adding SIP Service to your IP-PBX sale, “you gain a recurring commission stream for the life of the customer,” according to SoTel officials.

For example, an initial sale of a $20,000 IP-PBX yields a profit of $6,000. By adding SIP Services, you earn an additional $2,700 in gross profit during the first three years.

Here’s how it would play out in a sales call:

Your customer’s current carrier charges, oh, $800 per month plus LD. These charges include broadband service and voice T-1 for local & LD.

You tell them that SoTel charges $500 per month for comparable service, including voice usage and broadband connectivity. They’re staring down the barrel of saving $300 a month. Hard to lose those kinds of negotiations.

TMC’s (News - Alert) Stefanie Mosca recently wrote that of the many companies SoTel System partners with to distribute its IP telephony and unified messaging products and services, Epygi (News - Alert) Technologies has been working with SoTel for some time now to offer its conference server, gateways and IP PBXs.

“The beauty of joining forces with a distributor likeSoTel Systems is how the company helps to expand the provider’s reach in order to broaden their customer base,” Mosca wrote. “Aside from its robust channel partner program, SoTel System also offers its own reliable unified messaging service, SoSimple, which is scalable and customizable to meet the needs of each individual subscriber.”

Mosca gives the example of Burrows Law Firm, which provides legal consultation for personal injuries, accidents, criminal, civil and contract and family law, to residents of St. Charles, Missouri. When opening its first location, Burrows was faced with the challenge of finding an effective phone system that would support the company’s demand for reliable communication with its clients.

After much research, Burrows found SoTel System’s SoSimple unified messaging service to provide an all-in-one package providing the latest VoIP telephony technology with a single monthly bill and no upfront costs.
