YouTube's Free State-of-the-Art Studio in London

Who gets to use YouTube’s (News - Alert) new state-of-the-art studio for video creations? YouTube partners. And who gets to be a YouTube partner? Anyone -- even you. It’s free. And isn't that what YouTube is all about? Google’s (News - Alert) YouTube studio will be open in upcoming weeks in Soho, London for locals to use to create the next big YouTube stars. The only remaining question is when will they build these studios in the U.S.?

Forbes reports on Google’s latest project to offer its studio as a service to partners in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The studio comes equipped with DSLR and cinema camera, professional lighting, green screen, and of course – editing suites. It should come as no surprise that partners will have to book their slots in advance, but companies like Creator Academy and Creator Playbook will work alongside Google’s Next Lab team to offer courses and host workshops as well.

As ABC’s 20/20 revealed in 2011, the YouTube phenomenon produced many stars who were made as a result of the freely accessed video publications. Stars like “Obama Girl” Amber Lee Ettinger, experienced how one viral video can dramatically change your life. Ettinger today is still referenced and her opinion sought by those who are curious about her political opinion today. And just as YouTube has helped launch the careers of amateur film-makers, the company itself has expanded to include professional-grade productions and will be a popular medium from which to watch the Olympics live.

Even though the European Union is currently investigating Google over its intentions in the European market, its efforts in building the YouTube studio will undoubtedly provide leverage for people in the London area interested in a career in film. And because of the other tools available in the studio, the least partners will walk away with is a free education about video technology.
