Watching television is no longer a passive activity; you can demand and get virtually any type of entertainment and information while you are watching your favorite show or movie. Espial (News - Alert) specializes in on-demand solutions with open architecture designed for easy customization for manufacturers and the consumer.

By choosing Espial Panasonic (News - Alert) Corporation’s Semiconductor Business Group technology will be easily integrated for faster time to market for connected device manufacturers.

The Espial 6.0 Browser is a full spectrum browser with the latest standards so it can deliver content from different formats efficiently without compatibility issues. It supports HTML5, CSS 3D, Adobe Flash 11, W3C (News - Alert) Web, AJAX, SVG, CE-HTML, DOM2, DOM 3, SSL Certificate and Canvas with a high speed JavaScript engine. The Software Development Kit (SDK) is designed to be compatible with JavaScript extensions, media players and video plug-ins as well as the ability to extend scripting for third party content developers. The full integration of this browser in the chipset means the customer will have a high performance user experience out of the box without additional software or hardware.

Yasuhiro Nakakura of the Panasonic Corporation said, "The Espial TV Browser features a completely open architecture that allows a high degree of customization as well as rapid integration with today's leading Smart TVs, providing end users with a seamless TV experience."

Devices using the chipset allow manufacturers to custom build user interfaces for their product with interactive applications such as games, chat, Web browsing, interactive content and advertising and portals to other products and services. The WebKit based core engine provides support for evolving Web content and it is used by Google (News - Alert) Chrome and Apple Safari.

Panasonic produces chipsets for many devices including consumer electronics. By using the solution Espial provides, users will be able to use the technology on their TV’s as well as other manufacturers that use the chipset.

The Espial on demand service is geared towards simplifying the process of providing the information to the customer with an intuitive interface. The software is pre-integrated with the best VOD and conditional access systems with carrier grade business continuity. The single platform is flexible and is able to support the services and requirements of next generation technology. All of the features can be designed according to your location and language with the user interface tools.

The VOD market is very competitive and one of ensuring you have a better chance of acquiring those customers is by integrating this type of user interface in the hardware. This will not guarantee the customer will like or even use the product but if your product is top notch you will have a first crack at them.
