Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam Aims to Expand Mac Recording Capabilities

Logitech (News - Alert) recently released a new webcam which the company claims will "expand the ways in which you can stream and create videos." Indeed, the Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam was designed with a wide user base in mind, from video professionals to amateur bloggers and hobbyists.

Despite this seemingly wide focus, however, the Broadcaster is compatible only with Mac computers.

Featuring high-definition video capture, the Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam aims to make it easy to create professional-looking videos in most settings. Meanwhile, with built-in live streaming capabilities, the Broadcaster can stream video directly to Ustream, which users can control and preview with an iPad, iPhone (News - Alert) or Mac computer.

It can also act as a secondary video camera, supplementing any Mac's built-in webcam and adding a complementary perspective.

Since the Broadcaster is wireless, it adds a lot of much-needed flexibility to recording with a Mac in terms of possible angles. Users can then combine the static video of the embedded camera with the Broadcaster to create more exciting content.

"The Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam lets you stream and record like a pro," said Mike Culver, vice president of brand development for consumer computing platforms at Logitech. "It helps you make the most out of your existing Mac OS and iOS video setup for more dynamic live streaming, recording and video chatting. It goes where a built-in webcam can't, and with one press of a button, it's easy to switch between your built-in webcam and the Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam, so your friends and audience can enjoy a standard view or move around the room with you."

The Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam is compatible with QuickTime, PhotoBooth, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, FaceTime, iChat and Skype (News - Alert).

Logitech also released a couple of new keyboard models recently. The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is compatible with Android (News - Alert) and iOS, as well as Windows for mobile use, while the Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a desktop-focused product that emphasizes rapid key response.
