iStreamPlanet Taps Sorenson Media for Multiscreen Encoding

As iStreamPlanet transitions its solutions for live and on-demand streaming video to the cloud, it has chosen Sorenson Media’s Squeeze Server 2.0 as the platform to encode and transcode video on demand (VOD) files and to optimize multiscreen delivery.

The customizable, scalable Squeeze Server 2.0 enables enterprises and other high-volume users to encode and transcode online video in public or private cloud-based environments or hybrid environments consisting of local and cloud servers.

It also includes support for four of the market's most popular adaptive bitrate (ABR) platforms: MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), Adobe Flash Dynamic Streaming (FDS), Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), and Microsoft (News - Alert) Smooth Streaming.

Squeeze Server automatically transcodes individual video files into chunked segments categorized by bitrate, organizes the segments into folders and delivers them to every specified destination for playback – streamlining workflows by eliminating unnecessary tools and steps required by other applications.
