Envysion (News - Alert), Inc., a Managed Video as a Service (MVaaS) provider, recently announced that Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has completed deploying the company’s Envysion Insight solution to all corporate owned restaurant locations. Popeyes, the world’s second-largest quick-serve chicken concept based on number of units, will use Envysion’s video-driven business intelligence in its 40 company-operated locations to improve loss prevention efforts, optimize operations and drive restaurant-level profitability.
MVaaS transforms video surveillance into a strategic management tool that provides instant and unfiltered business insights to users across operations, loss prevention, marketing and human resources. Envysion Insight goes beyond traditional security and loss prevention applications by integrating video surveillance with business tools such as point of sale (POS) to deliver powerful video-driven business intelligence.
Businesses benefit from easy-to-use remote viewing of live and recorded video from an unlimited number of locations, providing insight into operations, loss prevention, marketing effectiveness, merchandising and customer behavior. This video can be quickly correlated with business intelligence data such as time of sale, receipt number and motion detection, making review of the important footage much more efficient.
Although Popeyes had an existing video solution deployed in all of its locations, management feared it was effectively creating a loss prevention blind spot because the system could not proactively identify areas of loss. While the existing system met Popeyes’ security needs, it left the company vulnerable to shrinkage, fraud and loss.
Wanting a video solution that could enhance loss prevention efforts and provide actionable business insights, Popeyes agreed to pilot Envysion Insight. During the pilot, Envysion showed Popeyes how the managed video solution could be used to improve loss prevention efforts, operations and profitability. The pilot also established how easy the platform is to use and showed that it required minimal IT support to deploy or maintain. After validating that Envysion Insight had a measurable return on investment and that pilot sites had an acceptable payback period, Popeyes selected Envysion as its exclusive video provider.

“After a thorough evaluation, we are excited to be selected by Popeyes and provide them a solution to help them improve the performance of their restaurants,” says Matt Steinfort, president and CEO of Envysion, in a statement.
Using Envysion’s MVaaS application, Popeyes has already realized an increase in average check amount, sales and gross profit from a better understanding of operational inefficiencies and policy violations. The loss prevention team at Popeyes is also leveraging Envysion’s video integrated exception reports to pinpoint and review high risk incidents and has been successful in decreasing food costs and fraudulent transactions, such as fraudulent employee discounts and excessive refunds.
“Envysion enables us to quickly identify and correct areas of loss. Since installing Envysion, we’ve seen improvements can be made when the system is fully utilized to improve profitability,” said Skip Smith, director of Risk Management, Popeyes.
