Mike Brandofino Joins Open Visual Communications

AVI-SPL’s (News - Alert) Mike Brandofino, the executive vice-president of video and unified communications (UC), has joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium, OVCC board of directors. OVCC, Open Visual Communications Consortium is a group of network providers, global video exchange providers and equipment manufacturers who have come together to expand and simplify video communications. The group has leading services and solution providers who create the blueprint to enable high-quality video collaboration.

Brandofino has over 18 years of experience in the video communications space, having joined AVI-SPL in May 2009, where he spearheaded the company’s initiatives for industry leadership in video and unified communications services.

"I'm proud to join the OVCC board to help advance interoperable solutions for visual communications," said Brandofino in a statement. "I look forward to lending my expertise to achieve the OVCC mission to expand, simplify and accelerate video communications while preserving and even increasing the value of enterprise customers' existing video investments," he added.

As a non-profit organization covered under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, the OVCC group has about 30 leading manufacturers of video platforms. The group establishes standards, policies and procedures to establish business-to-consumer and business-to-business collaboration. The collaboration is a multi-vendor, multi-network visual communication exchange dedicated to simplifying video calls across proprietary video platforms.

OVCC essentially offers a technical blueprint with the business model to support the full spectrum of video systems- right from immersive tele-presence and room-based systems, to standard and high definition, and from desktop clients to mobile devices.
