TelVue Corporation recently announced the launch of its latest HD/SD Simulcast System in association with the government access TV station, WBMA-TV, for the city of Bloomfield, New Jersey. By deploying HD/SD Simulcast from TelVue, users can now view WBMA-TV in HD on any Web-enabled device that can access an Internet stream.

This joint venture with TelVue’s HD/SD Simulcast will enable WBMA-TV to emerge as a pioneer in the era of public, educational, and government (PEG) broadcasting, making its channels available 24/7 to the viewers. At the same, they can view the channels in HD quality on the Internet, while retaining its Standard Definition (SD) simulcast channels for seamless cable distribution.

The latest HD/SD Simulcast System makes the linear, live, and VOD signals of WBMA-TV available in HD on all Web-enabled devices. From large screen LCD or LED TVs to tablets, PCs, or smartphones, HD WBMA channels can be viewed by users via HD/SD Simulcast System from TelVue.

The latest system launched by TelVue blends the best features and functions of both SDI and IP workflows, and also supports modern H.264 codec and MPEG-2 version as well. Using TelVue CloudCast System, a high-performance cloud-hosted broadcast service for Internet video, broadcasting to multiple devices is also possible.

In this regard, Jesse Lerman, chief executive officer and president of TelVue Corporation, said that with countless public, educational, and government broadcasting stations shooting and editing in HD, it becomes a frustration for these stations and their viewers that these channels are yet not available in HD.

The latest HD/SD Simulcast System from TelVue now gives PEG stations  a cost effective way to show their channels in HD. Rapid broadband Internet adoption has already reached a position where every community TV station can now launch their 24/7 HD channel using the Internet, enhancing the value-addition and service excellence they guarantee.

The executive director of WBMA-TV, Bob Duthaler, said that many people are impressed and satisfied with this new upgrade, and love television viewing in HD. The company has already started shooting all their programming in HD and it really feels good to see all the products in a format, in which they were meant to be actually viewed.

“A lot of people are impressed with the upgrade and love the HD viewing. We already shoot all of our programming in HD. It's nice to see the product out there in the format it was meant to be viewed in,” said Bob Duthaler.

With this new release, WBMA-TV programming can now cover different aspects of the community life, including sports, government, news, and cultural events, all in HD.
