The holiday season is in full gear, and while we’re here enjoying the festivities, we must not forget those that make the sacrifice for us to do so. The men and women of the military who are stationed around the world need our support all the time, and not just during the holidays.
ooVoo (News - Alert), a social video chat provider, and Operation Gratitude, a not-for-profit volunteer-based military and veteran support organization, are coming together to provide premium video chat to troops overseas.
Operation Gratitude supports the military by sending more than 100,000 care packages every year. The packages are addressed to each individual with letters of appreciation, snacks and entertainment. The support includes active military personnel and their children, veterans, wounded soldiers and those with financial difficulties.
The service will be offered to the families and supporters of Operation Gratitude during the holiday season. Support from ooVoo includes the free video service as well as cash donations to the organization. The company will provide 40,000 cards to be part of the care packages Operation Gratitude sends out. The card is good for a one year ooVoo Pro Plan service for family and friends of the recipient for free.
In addition to cards, the company will be donating 10 cents for each download of ooVoo to Operation Gratitude. If you support the organization by volunteering or donating to its cause, you can get a free premium plan if you sign up by March, 1 2013.
The promotion provides more offers for users that sign up using the Operation Gratitude link with a subscription of the Pro package at no charge.
This offer is for anyone that wants to support the organization.
The ooVoo application has more than 63 million registered users around the world, allowing them to connect with one another with a 12-way video chat using cloud connectivity over the Web using PCs, tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices.
The service provides the ability to record and share video messages, connect using social media platforms such as Facebook (News - Alert) and send IM and share files while chatting.
"Bringing together friends and family is what ooVoo is all about, and ooVoo is committed to providing those away from home with the ability to be always present in each other's lives. We are honored to be a part of Operation Gratitude's mission to comfort those away from home, and look forward to providing ooVoo Premium Plan to our troops and organization supporters for free during this giving time of the year," said Jay Samit , president, ooVoo.
Personal connections with active military personnel are critical when they’re in theaters of combat. By offering a 12-way face-to-face connection, ooVoo will give the men and women of the military a chance to see loved ones where ever they are.
