MobiTV Demos New LTE Broadcast Solution

As technology continues to move forward, being able to watch live and on-demand television on a wide variety of devices whenever we want is only getting more popular. MobiTV is a company specializing in television entertainment. At this year's CES (News - Alert), MobiTV upped the ante a bit with the unveiling of its LTE Broadcast technology. MobiTV has already shown off the ability to use its service through the cloud, even when talking about enabling a DVR type service.

MobiTV has partnered with Qualcomm (News - Alert) labs in making this technology a reality and is demoing this breakthrough at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The LTE Broadcast solution is the first time that companies will be able to offer up unicast and multicast capabilities with their broadcasts. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) will also be able to have more choice as to when they will localize their content and choosing when and where that content will be offered.

"In order to keep pace with the content demands imposed by today's connected device paradigm, you need a highly efficient, scalable, one-to-many broadcast solution," Charlie Nooney, chairman and CEO at MobiTV (News - Alert) said in a recent statement. "By leveraging Qualcomm Labs' LTE (News - Alert) Broadcast Middleware and SDK, MobiTV's LTE Broadcast application, will transform the way networks can deliver live TV to mobile devices by marrying unicast and multicast capabilities to create a dynamic and personalized content experience optimized for high concurrency events."

MobiTV has been revolutionizing the way that mobile devices and their users are able to access live and on-demand television for quite a while. Last year, the company rolled out its TV Everywhere solution. This allowed cable providers to access the company's cloud based broadcast offerings and tailor those companies’ offerings to their customers that much better.
