Creare, an SEO company, has welcomed social media network major Facebook’s partnership with Skype (News - Alert) to form a new video chat function on Facebook.

Facebook boasts more than 750 million members on the social networking site. The new video chat function is expected to encourage more user interaction within the site as social media is a proactive method to increase public exposure for their clients.

The new partnership between Facebook (News - Alert) and Skype is a direct response to the release of Google+, the new social networking site by Google.

For Mark Zuckerberg (News - Alert), founder of Facebook, this relationship is expected to lengthen the period of time users spend on Facebook. Facebook is a valuable asset for SEO and advertising companies, as the exposure companies can gain from social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter is huge.

“Facebook and Skype are huge independent companies in their own right, and this new relationship which they have formed is very exciting – especially for SEO,” said Mike McKinlay, managing director, Creare, in a statement.

“Here at Creare we use social media to encourage interest in our client’s Web sites,” McKinlay added. “This new partnership will encourage users to stay on Facebook for longer, and consequently improve our clients SEO campaigns.”

According to Creare officials, the new release by Facebook is expected to generate high levels of SEO exposure, especially in the wake of the new rivalry between Google (News - Alert)+ and Facebook.

Facebook has become a platform for businesses wishing to market themselves to specific target audiences. SEO company Creare uses social media as a way to encourage natural traffic back to the client’s Web sites. The more traffic a website receives, the more exposure and page authority they'll gain within a search engines' rankings.
