The provider of popular smartphone applications, YouMail Inc. recently announced a major achievement of its flagship, state-of-the-art mobile voicemail service, Visual Voicemail Plus. The applications for the Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm, and Windows Phone (News - Alert) 7 platforms have now been downloaded over two million times, the company said in a statement.
YouMail attributed its success to its strategy of placing the apps in various App Stores. Word of mouth, according to the company, also played a key role in its success.
With its popularity among the small business and enterprise users with BlackBerry (News
- Alert) devices, YouMail has consistently been listed as one of the top "Productivity" applications in the BlackBerry AppWorld.
In a press release, YouMail claimed that its convenience and ease of use have driven its dramatic growth. According to its maker, YouMail lets users quickly play, manage, and share voicemail anywhere: on smart phones, on tablets like the iPad, on computers, even on iPod Touches.
YouMail's "Smart Greeting" automatically greets callers by name, and users can also set up individual greetings, and leverage YouMail's community of greetings.
For most messages, YouMail provides the caller's picture, and accurately identifies the incoming caller's name and location, letting users really see and know who calls them.
YouMail users can get their mobile, home, and work voicemail in one place, without the risks and complexity inherent in find-me, follow-me services.
“YouMail is simply a fast, fun way to deal with missed calls, and it's very easy to download and set up,” YouMail's CEO Alex Quilici (News - Alert) said in a statement.
“This is driving major uptake of YouMail, even among people who have other visual voicemail applications from which to choose,” Quilici added.
YouMail is not only hugely popular among consumers, but it is also being increasingly adopted by carriers as their default or recommended voicemail. YouMail is available to post-paid mobile users in the U.S. on all major carriers including AT&T (News
- Alert) Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and T-Mobile. YouMail can also be used to unify a user's mobile voicemail with their voice messages from VOIP service providers such as Google Voice, MagicJack, OOMA, and Vonage (News
- Alert).
Few months back YouMail, Inc. logged 15 million monthly calls from unique U.S. phone numbers. In October, the company announced that nearly five percent of the U.S. population's phone system called YouMail over the past month or utilized the service to manage mobile voicemail with efficiency and convenience.
