By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc. (PTGi), an integrated facilities-based provider of advanced communications products and services, has launched its new Lingo business phone service plans in the United States, designed to meet the needs of small businesses.

Lingo, Inc., is the VoIP subsidiary of PTGi. It offers broadband Internet phone service, also known as a VoIP service. It also offers unlimited local and long distance calls anywhere in the U.S. and to 45 countries, along with more than 20 calling features.

The new Lingo Business Plans are tailor-made for small businesses, including home offices. Apart from offering feature-rich, reliable and affordable phone service to customers, these plans also offer a host of calling features.

In a press release, Thomas Mazerski, president for U.S. retail services of PTGI, said, "By offering this affordable, feature-rich and creative new plug & play phone service that small businesses have been demanding, Lingo is making a statement that we want to help and support them to succeed."

According to PTGi, each plan comes with a "plug & play" Polycom (News - Alert) phone. Some of the key calling features offered by the plan includes enhanced voice mail, caller ID, and call waiting.

The Lingo "Business Premium 500" plan is priced at $14.95 per month and includes 500 minutes across the U.S. The Lingo "Business Premium World" plan is priced at $21.95 per month and includes unlimited calling nationwide and to 45 countries.

Officials with PTGi said in a press release that new customers to either plan could get the first month of service free plus free activation. However, it is a limited time offer. Customers can even choose from no annual contract to one or two year contract options.

Mazerski added, "Business customers who sign a two-year contract will also receive their Polycom office phone free. We believe these robust affordable calling plans and features combined with the unlimited calling within the U.S. and to 45 countries are an excellent way for businesses to maximize their savings and improve their bottom line."

Peter Aquino (News - Alert), chairman, president and CEO, PTGi, said in a statement, "These new Lingo business service plans are part of PTGi's commitment to being a leading provider of advanced communication solutions, including traditional and IP voice, data, mobile services, broadband Internet, collocation, hosting, and outsourced managed services to business and residential consumers in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Brazil."
