Sprint Offers First MB7900 Gobi-Embedded Router

Sprint Nextel (News - Alert) reportedly has announced the certification of its Gobi-embedded Top Global MB7900 router.

 
Qualcomm’s (News - Alert) Gobi technology, embedded in the router, is expected to offer secure mobile Internet connectivity through Sprint’s “3G Mobile Broadband” network to the clients in the United States. The clients on the move can access the network from any part of the world through Sprint roaming partner networks.
 
The newly developed single embedded Top Global (News - Alert) MB7900 router with Gobi technology is easily scalable and reprogrammable to sustain a number of wireless networks globally. The router is expected to aid the manufacturers of M2M equipment, sensor and control panel to develop cost effective global solutions.
 
The Top Global MB7900 is designed to be compatible with important 2G/3G standards to provide fast internet connectivity and GPS practicality and offered compact to fit into any M2M equipment for affordability and portability. The MB7900 connects the present WiFi (News - Alert), GPS, LAN, WAN, Serial and USB-enabled devices with the 3G network of Sprint. WAN networks and GPS tracking systems with dissimilar working configurations can be connected to MB7900 utilizing the inbuilt auto-failover feature.
 
“Enabled by our patented MobileBridgeTM technology, the MB7900 comes with rich security features, including SPI Firewall, Anti-attack, URL filter, IPSec VPN client and Remote Central Management (RCM) capabilities for device management, firmware upgrade, configuration, Sprint service activation and provisioning,” said Alan Zhen Zhou, president and CTO, Top Global.
 
The MB7900 allows the clients who are engaged in international business to send or receive bulk data in high speed broadband utilizing embedded Qualcomm Gobi technology with EV-DO Rev. The technology provides an average upload speed of 400-700 kbps and download speeds of between 600 kbps and 1.4 Mbps.
