DSP Group Announces Enhanced Voice Processing Service

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

DSP Group, a provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications at home, reportedly announced the availability of CleaRtalk, an enhanced voice processing feature designed to improve user comprehension and attentiveness.

CleaRtalk “enhances communications effectiveness for both callers and called parties while conversing using corded, cordless and IP phones,” company officials said. The solution is based on algorithms that make speech clearer and more audible. The WideBand (News - Alert) Voice Synthesis algorithm used in the system makes audio more natural and understandable, closely resembling the live human voice.

DSP Group's (News - Alert) new Flexible Noise Reduction algorithm reduces background noise including that from cars, trains, and wind for both the caller and called parties, resulting in enhanced hearing and comprehension capabilities.

CleaRtalk is also enhanced by another new algorithm called the Flexible Listening Enhancement algorithm which dynamically adjusts the volume of ring tones and listening voice levels according to the ambient background noise. With this feature, officials said users do not miss any calls, and speech becomes always audible regardless of the background noise.

“We are pleased to deliver a superior listening user experience to our customers and their consumers,” Oz Zimerman, corporate vice president marketing of DSP Group, said in a statement. “With our new offering we are reaching the highest standards of audio quality, which will bring unique value to the home and office telephony market.”

DSP Group also announced enhancements to its full-duplex speakerphone performance to conform to the advanced CAT-iq and high-end Voice over Internet Protocol telephony roadmap, said company officials.

The new algorithm, the Enhanced Acoustical Echo Canceller, supports true wideband voice and provides additional noise reduction, filtering and equalization capabilities for keeping the best audio quality during hands-free conversations, they said.

DSP’s chipset solutions enable consumer electronics manufacturers to cost effectively develop new revenue-generating applications with fast time to market, claim company sources.

DSP Group recently announced that its silicon and HD voice technologies featuring ICs and software have been incorporated into 11 Cordless Advanced Technology - Internet and quality (CAT-iq) certified products from cordless telephone manufacturers, TMCnet reported
