Interconnecting HD Voice and Video: Options Galore – Part 2
Wednesday, April 14, 2010
2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 PM PDT
Service providers and carriers of all shapes and sizes badly want to move from a PSTN-based system to an all-IP world with SIP interconnections, enabling seamless end-to-end HD voice calling, video calling, and other powerful business and consumer applications. However, it is early days for higher-level SIP interoperability, with a few upstart service providers offering it, others talking about building their own IP peering fabric and Sprint offering the promise of it in the future.
Complicating matters in the HD voice world are numerous speech codecs and the necessity to translate between PSTN-grade service, G.722 for HD voice in the broadband and enterprise worlds, AMR-WB for mobile HD voice services in Europe, and the independence of Skype's SILK codec just to make life even more interesting.
What attendees will learn:
Available service options for HD voice interconnectivity
Information on popular HD voice codecs and their applications
How to transcode between different HD voice codec 'islands'
Presenters: Martyn Davies, Director of Technology, Dialogic
Doug Mohney, Editor-in-Chief, HD Voice News
