Allied Wireless Selects Juniper Networks

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Juniper Networks has been selected by Allied Wireless Communications Corporation, a subsidiary of Atlantic Tele-Network (News - Alert), Inc., to build a high-performance mobile infrastructure that ensures its customers have the highest quality wireless service today and in the future.

Officials with Juniper said that using the company's framework, AWCC will be able to accommodate evolving user behavior and expectations while improving the revenue opportunities of the network.

"AWCC is planning for the long-term demand of bandwidth driven by smartphones and other advanced devices," said Frank O'Mara, CEO of AWCC, in a statement.

O'Mara said that delivering service to customers in this environment requires a partner that understands the importance of planning for the next stage of the mobile network.

He said that Juniper stood out as the best company to help AWCC provide the highest quality wireless service and a superior customer experience.

According to company officials, unlike most legacy networks in the current mobile landscape, Juniper's "New Network" for mobility is based on open standards and flexible software platforms.

Company officials said that the Juniper architecture enables mobile operators, such as AWCC to support a broad range of devices, applications and subscriber needs.

"AWCC will be on the leading edge of regional mobile carriers. They needed to build a migration path to an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) that is seamless and protects its investments in existing network assets," said Manoj Leelanivas, executive vice president and general manager, Junos Ready Software at Juniper Networks (News - Alert).

Leelanivas said that Juniper's mobile product portfolio and innovative strategy will uniquely address AWCC's needs as it supports legacy circuit traffic while enabling graceful migration to an EPC that builds a long-term solution for the next decade of mobile computing.

From devices to data centers, from consumers to the cloud, Juniper Networks says that it delivers software, silicon and systems that transform the experience and economics of networking.
