An announcement was made by Apache Design Solutions, that its power and noise solutions, including RedHawk for SoC power integrity, Totem for custom IP validation and model generation, Sentinel for package design optimization, and PathFinder for electrostatic discharge verification has been adopted by MoSys (News - Alert), Inc., provider of differentiated, high-density memory and high-speed interface intellectual property. Apache's products are used by MoSys in both their IP and their SoC businesses. This will allow MoSys to supply accurate and high performance models to their customers and deliver quality products to the market on time.
The broadening of its business from designing and delivering high-speed interface IP and high density memory IP to include the Bandwidth Engine family of ICs was announced by MoSys in February 2010. MoSys' patented 1T-SRAM high-density embedded memory will be combined with its ultra high-speed 10 Gbps SerDes interface technology. Accurate transistor-level power/ground noise analysis and creation of Custom Macro Model or CMM for SoC integration and validation is done with the help of Totem. Hierarchical dynamic verification methodology is enabled by CMM which also provides IP protection for delivery. Chip-level power integrity, including integrated CMM and package parasitic is provided by RedHawk and Sentinel. MoSys uses Apache's latest product PathFinder, the ESD integrity solution, to ensure the robustness of their chip's ESD protection mechanisms, at the full-chip level.
According to Sundari Mitra, executive vice-president, Engineering, MoSys, around a year ago the company had acquired Prism Circuits, a provider of world class, high-speed SerDes IP. The company recognized that traditional methods of using SPICE with scripts were inadequate as high-speed I/O interfaces are highly sensitive to power noise. The team was able to quickly identify and resolve the real design issue in the SerDes circuit using Totem. MoSys is able sustain its leadership in IP and strengthen its competitiveness in the serial chip-to-chip communications markets due to the adoption of Apache's products, Mitra added.
Dian Yang, senior vice president and general manager, Apache said MoSys' patented 1T-SRAM IP is well-known in the industry for its quality. The company is pleased that its solutions will contribute to MoSys' continued delivery of high quality IPs as MoSys broadens its product strategy.
