Digital Multimedia Technology (DMT (News - Alert)) of Seoul, Korea, announced today that it’s selected Trinity convergence software for a digital home entertainment and video conferencing system for its network operator and service provider customers.
DMT said it will make the new product, named “Video Phone Adapter (VPA) DMV2000,” commercially available later this year.
VeriCall Edge software provides a embedded media processing engine, including integrated VoIP
calling and video telephony functionality.
In addition to enabling two-way high-resolution videoconferencing, the VPA DMV2000 will provide consumers with greater flexibility and mobility in terms of how and where they receive, store and watch their digital media, according to the company.
The VPA DMV2000 will also provide place-shifting functionality – the ability to watch TV where and whenever a person wants – using its digital multimedia storage and delivery platform, according to the company.
DMT officials say they’re developing the product for network operators and service providers that want to offer a higher level of service to their residential broadband and digital entertainment customers.
“Our continued success in digital multimedia products relies on our ability to deliver innovative IP-connected devices to the marketplace,” said Mr. Hee-Kee Lee, chief executive officer of DMT.
“VeriCall Edge software, and the IP
communications and networking expertise of the Trinity Convergence (News - Alert) team, allow us to accelerate our product design and development cycles,” Lee said. “As a result, we will be delivering a one-of-a-kind offering that targets the rapidly growing IP-connected home market.”
“We’re excited to be collaborating with DMT and to see our VeriCall Edge software providing the IP video conferencing solution in such a unique product,” said Brian Lees, vice president of sales and business development for APAC and EMEA, at Trinity Convergence.
“Device and service convergence is driving the trend to integrate IP multimedia and communications functionality into digital entertainment devices such as set-top-boxes and DVRs. The performance, quality and security inherent in our VeriCall software positions us well to serve this growing market.”
Trinity Convergence develops embedded software solutions for the Automotive, Communications, Consumer Electronics, Industrial Controls and Medical device markets.
The company provides highly integrated software solutions designed to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) accelerate their product development cycles.
The company’s embedded VoIP software and graphical user interface (GUI) development tools offer a competitive advantage to manufacturers by providing highly-integrated solutions and the flexibility to run across a variety of operating systems and microprocessors, according to the company.
