PortaSwitch IP Services Platform Interoperable with InnoSystems Softphone

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

PortaOne, a communications infrastructure company, said it has successfully completed interoperability testing between PortaOne's (News - Alert) PortaSwitch IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) and Flashphone, a softphone client from telecom/media system provider Innovative Systems of Communication (InnoSystems).

PortaOne is a global vendor of carrier grade software for Internet Telephony service providers. According to the company, the interoperability with InnoSystems Flashphone (News - Alert) gives IP service providers an assured, reliable peer-to-peer and peer-to-anyone phone call solution that can help initiate and preserve customer relationships.

InnoSystems' Flashphone is a ‘call via Web site’ solution for free or low-cost IP telephony based on InnoSystems' Zingaya Media Server Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway, the company said. The service can be offered free for peer-to-peer calls, or at low cost for calls to regular phone numbers.

PortaSwitch, PortaOne's flagship VoIP services platform, is a software-based communication services and subscriber management solution that allows IP telephony services providers to unify voice, data and fax traffic within a single network. InnoSystems' Flashphone is a market-ready softphone enhancement for PortaSwitch, the company said.

PortaSwitch consists of a softswitch and application servers, delivering Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) call control, unified messaging, IP Centrex and IP PBX, voice virtual private network (VPN), callback management, billing and provisioning among others.

According to Alexey Aylarov, project manager of InnoSystems, PortaOne and Flashphone is a powerful combination that can be offered both as an end-user product and a solution for e-Commerce, businesses or call centers. “Interoperability with PortaOne demonstrates Flashphone's flexibility and reliability in supporting leading-edge IP multimedia systems.”

The 'call via Web site' capability is a highly attractive offering in today's global economy, comments Roman Khalenkov, sales and marketing director for PortaOne. “The mutual support of PortaSwitch and Flashphone creates an instant value-add for service providers that can build loyalty and increase revenues.”

In November, PortaOne announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between PortaSwitch and the Personal Edition Mobile Client from MobileMax (News - Alert), a provider of unified communications solutions. Together, the two technologies create an end-to-end business solution that supports automatic and seamless least-cost international calls via virtually any popular mobile handset, according to PortaOne.
