Interphase, a global provider of building blocks, subsystems, and gateway appliance solutions for converged communications networks, has announced the release of SPAN 36MC1 Packet Processor (News - Alert), belonging to the company’s portfolio of Quad (4x) Gigabit Ethernet high-performance packet processor products.
The company said that, the latest release was made to address the growing need for wire-speed packet processing solutions for the delivery of broadband services in the 3G Wireless, Voice over IP and IMS network infrastructure.
The 36MC1 is based on the Cavium Octeon plus high-performance multi-core processor architecture and are is available with RJ-45 or small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module interfaces, supporting Quad Gigabit Ethernet and PCI-e connectivity on the AdvancedMC (News - Alert) connector with 2 GB of memory.
Ian MacMillan, Sr. Product Marketing Manager at Interphase (News - Alert), said that, “As the telecommunications networks transition to a packet-based network, the need for line-rate secure packet processing, packet inspection, classification, content management, and QOS support is the foundation for the delivery of high-performance network elements for the emerging 3G/4G wireless, IMS and IPTV (News - Alert) network architectures.”
He added, “Our strategic relationship with 6WIND provides Interphase customers with full integration of the advanced features of the high-performance multi-core iSPAN cards with 6WINDGate multi-core networking middleware for telecom and enterprise network applications, resulting in quicker time to market.”
The iSPAN 36MC1 comes with Linux-based ready-to-use application / protocol suites that transform the 36MC1 into a specialized communications interface which can be easily integrated into solution platforms.
The company assures that the new the iSPAN 36MC1 is extremely versatile and provides the functionality necessary for migrating to next-generation infrastructures and converged networks with its RJ-45 interfaces, powerful onboard Octeon Plus packet processor, dual management interface and upgradeable memory.
The iSPAN 36MC1 also support the 6WINDGate software toolkit for embedded networking. Company said that it will continue to add industry leading software toolkits such as deep packet inspection (DPI) and Internet Protocol security (IPSec) to assist its customers in reducing time to market for their solutions.
