VoIP's Veraz, Comarch Eye Pre-Paid Billing

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Veraz Networks, Inc., a provider of multimedia generation network application, control, and bandwidth optimization products, and Comarch, a BSS/OSS vendor and systems integrator, have announced a joint offering for wholesale carriers that combines Comarch’s (News - Alert) real-time pre-paid, service creation and credit control application with Veraz’s ControlSwitch interconnect VoIP platform.

Officials at Veraz said that the Veraz-Comarch solution addresses the cost of integration by leveraging the ControlSwitch’s ability to interwork across legacy, first generation softswitches and IMS-based SIP control elements, providing a unified interface into the carrier pre-paid system and overall OSS/BSS environment.

This, officials said dramatically lowers the cost of integrating a diverse network switching environment into the pre-paid system.

Comarch officials said that BSS/OSS portfolio and expertise, which includes convergent billing systems for retail and wholesale carriers, telecom CRM systems and network and service assurance applications provides carriers with an industry leading and complete solution covering billing, rating, charging and real-time service creation and control.

“By working together, Comarch and Veraz are lowering the cost and complexity of implementing pre-paid wholesale services,” stated Piotr Piatosa, VP telecommunications, member of the board, Comarch SA.

Piatosa said that the joint solution provides a powerful platform that can easily accommodate future service capabilities without requiring significant changes to the network.

“The Veraz-Comarch solution delivers an industry-leading carrier prepaid solution, solving both the interworking complexity for carriers across multiple switching platforms, as well as the real-time reporting and credit control required in this environment,” said Dawn Hogh, vice president of marketing for Veraz Networks (News - Alert).
Hogh said Veraz is pleased to be working with Comarch to deliver these types of capabilities to wholesale carriers globally.

Veraz Networks, Inc. is a provider of application, control, and bandwidth optimization products that enable the evolution to the Multimedia Generation Network (MGN). The company earlier this month announced the general availability of its IPX compliant solution, Release 5.8 of the ControlSwitch VoIP switching platform.

Release 5.8 delivers improved interconnection, enhanced security and reduced OPEX (News - Alert) for wholesale operators and their mobile operators, and is being deployed in service provider networks.
