Arbinet Reduces Private Exchange Fees

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

New Jersey-based Arbinet, a global voice and IP communications provider, has reportedly reduced the fees it charges to transport traffic on Private Exchange by up to 57 percent. Private Exchange is an easy-to-use, low-risk outsourcing service. Arbinet (News - Alert) is also known for other services including thexchange, a marketplace for buying and selling voice communications and Arbinet Carrier Services, a traditional wholesale model.

Catering to retail service providers and carriers, Private Exchange allows users to seamlessly create virtual interconnections with corresponding carriers that have direct routes into their markets. Users negotiate rates and volumes between themselves using an online tool while Arbinet routes, bills and settles between the designated parties.

Private Exchange offers a range of benefits including improved circuit utilization, TDM/VoIP conversion, VoIP protocol support, increased network efficiency and lower back-office costs related to interconnections. It also makes swap agreements and volume commitment deals easier through online reporting tools and automatic alerting.

"Arbinet's Private Exchange provides a streamlined service to do business with new customers without the hassle of interconnection," said Jan Dingenhouts, commercial director for MTN (News - Alert) International Carrier Services, in a release. "We don't have to worry about payment, credit checks, circuit charges, or contractual negotiation. We simply send the invite, make new offers, and we are in business. It is all done online and is a cost-effective solution for us to bring in additional revenue that we would otherwise not have access to."

"We are working hard to provide the international voice community with flexible, cost-effective ways to originate and terminate voice traffic," said Dan Powdermaker, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Arbinet, in a release. "The Private Exchange cost reductions are one of a number of changes we have made at Arbinet to help our customers, suppliers and Exchange members more effectively serve their end-users and compete."

All thexchange members and carrier service customers and providers can use Private Exchange for the routing of retail traffic to direct termination routes.

Arbinet is a popular transaction platform where buying and selling of voice and IP telecommunications capacity takes place. TMCnet recently reported that Arbinet has crossed the 1,000-member milestone for thexchange during the first quarter of this year, as a result of its expansion efforts in emerging markets.
