For those of us who follow the tech industry closely, we have frequently mulled over questions like the future of cloud computing and the role of HTML5. But for ITEXPO (News - Alert) West sponsor ABP International, those topics provide more answers than questions.
Recently, TMCnet interviewed Robert Messer, President and CEO of ABP (News - Alert) International, Inc. ABP is a company that specializes in IP Telephony and IP video solutions throughout North and South America.
When asked about the changes in his market segment over the past year, and the trends that fueled those changes, Messer said, “We have seen some consolidation in the reseller market with stronger resellers emerging that can provide their SMB customers kills in more than one segment of the market.”
He emphasized cloud computing at the next disruptive force in technology, stating that it has the potential to reduce hardware by the VAR sales even further while strengthening resellers who are shifting to a model in the managed services space. Furthermore, Messer stated that the adoption of the cloud is leading to ABP abstracting hardware out of the equation and focusing on the cloud as their new IT paradigm.
While Messer does not yet see social media making a big impact on his business, he does feel that HTML5 is already a game changer, boldly stating, “It’s a done deal.”
On the subject of the mobile operating system war among iPhone (News - Alert), Android, RIM and WM7, Messer stated, “If solidity of software, less distraction and more consistent interface are key than that will be the platform that will win the largest market share.”
Discussing the upcoming ITEXPO West in Austin, Messer said that he felt the biggest trends at the show will be “new peripherals based on SIP like door phones, access control units, IP based Surveillance and more robust Wi-Fi will be our champions as ITEXPO in Austin.” He further stated that the attendees who should visit the ABP booth would be “resellers, Managed Services Providers, Security Integrators and Consultants along with anyone who would like to new see state of the art IP Technology solutions should come by ABP Tech’s booth.”
