Infinera (News - Alert) Instant Bandwidth allows optical transport network operators to quickly install bandwidth in 100 Gigabits per second (100G) increments without having to install or deploy more line cards in the system. Providing transport operators the ability to quickly provision additional 100G capacity with a success-based business model, instant Bandwidth ultimately shortens provisioning times, accelerates service delivery and reduces time to revenue, allowing service providers to differentiate their services.
Recently, the company revealed that TeliaSonera (News - Alert) International Carrier (TSIC) selected the DTN-X with Infinera Instant Bandwidth to provide 100 Gigabits per second (100G) of optical transport capacity through software control across its North American network. With the help of the DTN-X platform, TSIC can provide users up to 100G bandwidth-on-demand and lower its operational expenses.
TeliaSonera International Carrier first opted for the Infinera DTN back in 2009. Sometime ago, the companies conducted the world's first terabit trial in California based on the DTN-X equipment. Offering Instant Bandwidth, the Infinera DTN-X platform is available and shipping to users.
“The selection of the DTN-X with Instant Bandwidth from TeliaSonera International Carrier demonstrates the strength of the relationship that began with our DTN in the 10G era and is now entering the 100G era with the DTN-X," explained Chris Champion, Infinera VP, EMEA sales in a statement. "As TSIC continues to grow their business, Instant Bandwidth on DTN-X provides a flexible infrastructure, one-click capacity and lower operational costs as they face increasing demands for bandwidth in a more competitive environment.”
