TMCnet VoIP Routers Week in Review

By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

It was a busy week in the VoIP Routers sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.

Parvus Corporation, a supplier of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf computing and IP networking subsystems, has launched DuraMAR 31-5915. It’s designed to be a lower-cost alternative for homeland defense and civilian mobile, tactical, vehicle and outdoor networking applications.

In another story, TMCnet’s Michelle Amodio reported that a compatible VoIP router is often overlooked when deciding to deploy a VoIP platform. Selecting the perfect router will have just the right effect on the overall quality of the VoIP experience. Patton Electronics, a supplier of VoIP routers and gateways, offers a host of fixed and mobile routers in its BODi rS line (Bandwidth on Demand Internet) that offer advanced features and functionalities to meet VoIP needs.

It was also reported that Q3 of 2012 showed the global service provider VoIP and IMS market slipped 4 percent. But the market is up 8 percent from the Q3 of 2011, Infonetics Research reported. Most of the year-over-year growth in the market was attributed to the Asia Pacific and Latin American regions, which essentially carried the VoIP and IMS market in Q3.

Also, the Parallocity ZVM-U software analysis tool will be used by ShoreTel (News - Alert) to help in automated defect detection and code analytics during the development phase of its unified communications (UC) platform. Parallocity specializes in the $2B automated software quality (ASQ) sector.

And deltathree, a source of integrated video and VoIP telephony services, saw total revenue of $3.5 million during the recent Q3 – an increase of 59 percent year-over-year. The company increased sales from reseller and direct-to-consumer segments. The net operating income for Q3 is about $17,000, compared to an operating loss for Q3 of 2011 of $542,000.

Also, the firm’s net loss during Q3 decreased to $401,000, as compared to $872,000 during Q3 in 2011.
