The communication solutions the military uses has to incorporate a robust security protocol, portability, battery power efficiency and be rugged enough to withstand different harsh environments in threats of war. As the US military continues to adapt ICT technologies to improve operational efficiencies, the Department of Defense (DoD) is always looking for new products and services that provides all of the branches in the military with better solutions. Just like in the real world, the military is also using M2M communications with sensors for different applications.
The new e150 integrated router board from iDirect Government Technologies (iGT) is designed to meet the DOD's requirements for remote sensor monitoring. The new router incorporates spread spectrum technology that can be integrated into ultraportable antennas and keyline control for battery power management savings.
The e150 is ideally suited for sensor applications with remote features DVB-S2/ACM and time division multiple access (TDMA), basic routing; virtual local area network functionality; and quality of service.
Some of the features of the e150 include:
- Spread-spectrum technology provides bandwidth and spectral efficiencies that enable the use of small antennas
- Small form factor that supports the use of smaller terminals
- Low weight for portability
- Transmit keyline provides for significantly lower power consumption resulting in longer battery life and much lower heat output
- Supports all antenna variants and all satellite frequencies
- Limited functionality to meet the sensor application market
"The e150 was developed specifically to suit unique military applications and provide our DoD customers with TDMA, QoS and other bandwidth- and power-efficient features to support their overall missions," said Karl Fuchs, iGT Vice President of Technology.
Created in 2008 iGT is a wholly owned subsidiary of VT iDirect (News - Alert), Inc., specializing in the best satellite communication products and services to support the needs of the US Department of Defense and civilian agencies for domestic and international government operations. The company provides secure satellite-based voice, video and data applications with connectivity in the air, at sea and on land with anytime and anywhere capabilities. The company's technology is used by multiple US government agencies and military branches with advanced satellite IP solutions are used for critical ISR, airborne, maritime and COTM communications to support force protection, logistics, situational awareness, disaster recovery and emergency response.
