Vivox's claims that it is the undisputed leader in integrated voice services for the entire gaming industry is not without substance and that's why Cryptic Studios signed a platform agreement that will integrate Vivox Voice services into all Cryptic titles.
Cryptic Studios, a leading developer of massive multiplayer online role-playing games, MMORPG, and a subsidiary of Ataria Inc., is responsible for developing several AAA titles. It is planning to expand its portfolio with the launch of a new co-operative role-playing game- 'Neverwinter', in 2011. Vivox will be a big part of all Cryptic's upcoming games and will also be responsible for upgrading existing titles by incorporating the in-game voice functionality.
Vivox Voice chat is a critical component for online games and is considered irreplaceable in so far as the gaming experience is concerned. In fact, Cryptic has been able to provide its community with the most personal and social in-game experience because of Vivox.
In a press release, John Needham, CEO of Cryptic Studios said that “Having seen Vivox in action in other titles, Cryptic realized that it would be a fantastic feature for its own community. By incorporating voice chat into its portfolio, it was confident of delivering the best communication option in the market and providing its players with the most immersive, exciting experience that Cryptic was capable of.”
Rob Seaver, CEO of Vivox indicated in a statement that “The opportunity that Cryptic provided was not something that would occur every day and Vivox was excited to be part of a program that would bring best-in-class voice services to all of the studio’s titles and ensure their communities the ability to easily communicate while in-game.” He added that he looked forward to building on the relationship for years and many more games to come.
In a related news release, IMVU, an online community where members use 3D avatars to meet new people, chat, create and play, announced that the company has partnered with Vivox Inc. to bring voice chat to the IMVU community.
